Waking up early on the weekends (especially Saturdays) is a bitter-sweet thing for me. It is the one day I can actually sleep in, yet at the same time, the sooner I get up, the more things I accomplish. (However, I do realize this also means I will probably go to bed earlier in the evening.)
This morning I woke up around 5:30 a.m. and couldn’t fall back to sleep for two reasons.
1.) I kept thinking about things I wanted to accomplish today.
2.) My stomach hurt quite badly because I was starving!!
So I got up some had some Quaker Oatmeal Squares (one of my favorite kinds of cereal) with milk to take the hunger pains away.
After blog reading and some time spent looking for new recipes for the upcoming week, I headed out for a shorter long run. I cut back on my mileage this week, so the plan only called for 8 miles today (instead of 12+). It was a good run–and the sun was shining!! However, as usual, it is now gone. 😦 Seriously, I hate all the teasing!!
I was famished once I returned, so I quickly prepared some Oats in a Jar for myself. Here’s a basic step-by-step on how to make Oats in a Jar.
Find a jar of nut (almond, peanut, cashew, etc.) butter that is almost empty.
Prepare oatmeal the way you would on the stove-top. (Here’s how I prepare Stove-top Oatmeal.)
Step 5: Enjoy!!
I was craving something salty after my run, so I munched on some of these. Salty pretzels taste even better after a sweaty run!!
We are off for some more Alaskan adventures. Hopefully I’ll have fun stories to tell!!
