Highs and Lows II

Low: My run Tuesday morning.

I was really excited to run Tuesday morning. After Monday morning’s run of 5 miles with no pain, I thought for sure my hamstring was completely healed. I had completed four runs without any pain, so I figured I’d be find running 4 miles.
It was 17* warmer than the day before, snow was falling from the sky, and I was glad to have the road to myself at 6 a.m. in the morning. But within a mere 0.8 miles, my hamstring started to announce its precense. NO! I stopped, stretched it, and then tried running again. I was optimistic it just needed to warm up a bit, but sadly, the pain was not easing up. I knew I had to turn back home and call it quits for the day.


High: My run today after work.

A full 3 miles without any hamstring pain. I hope it stays this way now! It was nothing speedy, but I was glad to be out running.


Low: Not being able to sleep last night.

I had coffee at work around 9:30 AM Tuesday morning, and I could not sleep for the life of me that night. I was up from 12:30 – 1:30 a.m. working on this post. I am going to sleep like a log tonight!

High: My mom, dad, and aunt are coming to cheer my sister and I on at the Boston Marathon.

The Boston Marathon is less than 75 days away, which is going to be here before I know it. I am so excited to have some familiar faces cheering me on! I just wish I could start training!

Low: A friend of mine passed away yesterday from brain cancer.

Thankfully Craig and I were able to see her and her family when we went to MN for the marathon in October. It just breaks my heart that she was so young and had a whole life ahead of her though. Her husband is also a good friend and they have a daughter who is 2 years old. She battled brain cancer for the past two years, and she truly is a strong woman!

High: Potlucks.

We had a potluck at work today. I get tired of eating my own food for lunch every day, so it is nice to enjoy some food prepared by others for a change. Plus that means I don’t have to prep a lunch the night before. A whole plate of veggies baby.


High: This granola bar.

I thought this Larabar Uber was pretty decent. I like regular Larabars, but I do like the added nuts for extra crunch.


Low: This “granola” bar.

This protein bar was okay but nothing I would buy again. It kind of had a pastey texture to it. I was starving, so I couldn’t complain too much.
