Breakfast #1 & #2

I love breakfast. So much so I often eat two breakfasts every morning.

Actually, the real reason I eat two breakfasts is because I am so incredibly hungry in the mornings. Then as the day progresses, I eat less and less and often I will not eat very much for dinner.

Breakfast #1 this morning: Puffins cereal and milk

Breakfast #2 at the coffee shop because it was coffee date morning with Craig.

Green smoothie concoction by Craig—who knows what went in there, but it was mighty good.

Toast with peanut butter—a staple every morning.

I also had a decaf cafe au lait with a little bit of hazelnut—my cheap version of a latte.

We talked, hung out, and avoided going to work as long as possible. DSC_0008

After work, I stopped at Pita Pit for dinner. I knew Craig wasn’t going to be home and I hadn’t purchased my lunch all week, so I splurged and picked up something instead of scrounging for something at home. Craig went to Pita Pit the other day and came back saying how good it was, so I decided to give it a try as well.

The process was the opposite of Subway in that you pay first and then they make your sandwich with whatever toppings you want, so that threw me off a little, but the guys working there were super helpful. DSC_0011

I ended up ordering an all veggie sandwich. They loaded up my wrap with avocado, grilled veggies, fresh veggies, and ranch dressing. Oh my, what it good! I also had a coupon for a free cookie. So delicious! DSC_0013

Speaking of fast (service) food, the DJ on the radio this morning couldn’t decide if places like Panera Bread are fast food joints. I admit that they are different than your traditional “fast food” restaurants such as McDonalds and Burger King, but, I would consider Panera Bread, Subway, Pita Pit—and places similar to these, fast food joints as well. Fast food has become synonyms with “unhealthy,” but I don’t think fast food has to be unhealthy. It is just “fast service.” Then the DJ challenged his listeners by saying, “how do you define a fast food restaurant” since the service and how your food is served does vary in these establishments. I decided that a fast food joint would be defined as any place you order standing up. If you order your food at a counter, standing up, then you are at a fast food restaurant, but if you are seated at a table when you order your food, then you are not.

After I got home and ate dinner, I took Sadie for a walk. I let her stop and sniff everything she wanted to. I am convinced she is a bloodhound in a lab’s body. DSC_0017

What is your favorite fast food place?

Anyone else out there eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince, and dinner like a pauper?

  1. Qdoba is my favorite fast food place. I love my mexican food! And I eat so much breakfast food it’s ridiculous. Oatmeal, overnight oatmeal, cereal, smoothies, eggs, peanut butter toast, yogurt, fruit, basically all the yummy stuff! 😀 That wrap looks absolutely amazing. I love veggie wraps!

  2. There’s actually a term called “fast casual” that’s used to describe restaurants like Panera (St. Louis Bread Co. where I’m from!), Chipotle, etc. The food is prepared much more quickly than at a sit-down establishment, but you’re more likely to linger and take your time while eating.

  3. yes, i love the fast casual type restaurants! panera is my fave. we rarely eat true “fast food” except on trips. occasionally that kind of food sounds good to me, and my husband loves it. 🙂

  4. My eating habits sound a lot like yours. I also eat breakfast twice; typically a little something before I workout and a much bigger meal after. The appetite just kind of dies as the day goes on. Pita pit sounds good – wish we had one here.
